Production method
It is obtained by hydrolysis of 2, 5-dimethylfuran. Another synthesis method is the reaction of sodium ethyl acetoacetate with pure iodine to form diethyl diacetylsuccinate, which is then hydrolyzed with 10% sodium hydroxide solution. The reaction solution was saturated with anhydrous potassium carbonate and acetonyl acetone was precipitated. It was extracted with ether, after the ether was steamed from the extraction solution, the residual was distilled, and the colorless product was obtained by distilling at 192-194℃.

It is used as a high boiling point solvent for synthetic resin, nitro spray paint, coloring agent, printing ink, leather tanning preparation, rubber vulcanization accelerator, pesticide and drug raw materials.
