3-Methyl-4-nitropyridine is a pyridine analogue containing a nitro group in its structure. This class of substances is an essential component of chemical or pharmaceutical manufacture and is used in the preparation of other organic heterocyclic compounds such as methyl 4-aminonicotinate, 5-azaindole (a pharmaceutical intermediate), amide compounds and tetrahydroimidazolopyridine derivatives.
